Riley Blackwell

Work
with me.

I work across stories, communities, and the tools that bring ideas into the world. We can begin with a focused project, work together over time, or explore a place for me on your team.

Think of me as your guide to a future you can’t see yet. In our conversations, we’ll connect your passions to work that matters to you and find ways for it to reach the right people.

Make your
story clearer.

I help turn what you know into a story people can understand and care about. We can work on positioning, voice, narrative and lore, or editorial direction.

One possible start: an audience and voice brief, one edited article or newsletter, reusable editorial templates, and a publishing plan.

Work you can see

Kimiya Publication, website, and my book of essays

I was Editor in Chief at ETH Investors Quarterly Magazine, leading editorial direction and working with contributors on technical and cultural stories.

In my early twenties, I helped bring the Captain Marvel fandom to life with Marvel comics writer Kelly Sue DeConnick. That shared world went on to reach millions of new fans through the MCU.

Bring people
together.

I design and host ways for people to join, participate, and make something together: local communities, events, live conversations, and collaborative workshops.

We can begin with a purpose, a format, and a participation plan for a gathering or workshop, including what people will do and take away.

Build something
useful.

I turn ideas into websites, prototypes, and practical workflows. My background in infrastructure and incident response helps me understand the system and work through the technical details.

One focused start: map a recurring task, make and test a small prototype, then hand it over in a working session your team can use.

Full-time &
fractional roles.

I’m also open to a place on a team working across communications, community, media, and brand, where editorial judgment, understanding people, and technical execution belong together.

I can help shape the story, build the ways people participate, and make the tools behind it. Tell me about the team and the work you want to do.

Let’s talk
it through.

Bring a project, an idea, or a question you haven’t quite found the words for. We’ll talk through what you’re trying to do and where I could help. My aim is that you leave with a useful perspective and a clearer next step.
